IndexNow Ping Tool

Tell Bing, Yandex, Seznam and Naver about new or updated pages instantly — no waiting for the next crawl. Generate a key, host one tiny file, and ping.

1Your domain + IndexNow key

Already have a key on your site? Paste it instead:

2Host the key file, then verify
3Ping your URLs

IndexNow doesn’t cover Google.

This ping reaches Bing, Yandex, Seznam and Naver. Google (and full index tracking) needs Search Console submission — Quillly does both automatically on every publish: Google, Bing + 5 more engines, with per-page indexing status tracked in your dashboard.

Index & track on 8 engines automatically

Pings go to api.indexnow.org. Your key is used for the request only — nothing is stored.

What is IndexNow?

IndexNow is an open protocol for telling search engines that a URL on your site is new, updated or deleted, instead of waiting for their crawler to come back and notice. You publish a key file at your domain root to prove you own the site, then POST a list of URLs to the IndexNow endpoint. Engines that take part share submissions with each other, so one ping reaches all of them.

It is free, there is no account to create, and there is no quota to buy. The only thing it asks for is proof that you control the domain you are submitting URLs for — which is what the key file is.

How to use this IndexNow tool

  1. Enter your domain and press Generate key. The key is 32 random hexadecimal characters produced in your browser — it is never generated on a server, so nobody else sees it. If you already have a key on your site, paste it instead
  2. Download the <key>.txt file and upload it to your site root, so it resolves at https://yourdomain.com/<key>.txt. The file must contain the key and nothing else
  3. Press Verify key file. The tool fetches that URL and confirms the response body matches the key exactly — the same check the search engines will run
  4. Paste your URLs, one per line, up to 100 per submission. Every URL has to be on the same host as the key, and the tool rejects the batch before sending if one is not
  5. Press Submit to IndexNow. The list is relayed server-side to the IndexNow endpoint, because that endpoint sends no CORS headers and a browser cannot call it directly

A successful submission returns HTTP 200 or 202. HTTP 403 means the key file could not be validated, 422 means one or more URLs did not belong to the key's host, and 429 means you have submitted too often and should wait before retrying.

GoogleNoSitemap plus Google Search Console; Google has not adopted IndexNow

That last row is the one people get wrong. IndexNow does not touch Google, so a site relying on it alone has told four engines about a new page and left the largest one to find it on its own schedule. Submit your sitemap in Search Console as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does IndexNow submit my pages to Google?

No. Google has not adopted IndexNow. A ping reaches Bing, Yandex, Seznam and Naver, and those engines share submissions between themselves. For Google you still need a sitemap and Google Search Console.

Does pinging guarantee my page gets indexed?

No. IndexNow is a discovery signal, not an indexing decision. It tells an engine to come and look now rather than in a few days or weeks. Whether the page is then indexed still depends on whether it is crawlable, unique and worth a slot in the index.

How many URLs can I submit at once?

Up to 100 per submission in this tool, one URL per line, and all of them on the same host as the key. Submit again for the next batch. Send only pages that actually changed — re-pinging your whole site on a schedule is the fastest way to have your submissions deprioritised.

Where does the key file go, and can I reuse one key?

The file goes in your site root, named after the key with a .txt extension, containing exactly the key. One key works for every submission from that domain indefinitely, so generate it once, host it once, and keep using it. It can be any 8 to 128 letters, numbers or dashes.

Is my key stored by this tool?

No. The key is generated in your browser and is used only for the verification fetch and the submission request. Pings go to the IndexNow API endpoint, and nothing is kept here afterwards.

Want Google covered too — without the manual ping?

Quillly submits every page it publishes to 8 search engines, Google included, and tracks each page's indexing status in your dashboard.
